Department of Cytology, Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw, operating within the structure of the Institute of Developmental Biology and Biomedical Sciences, conducts research focused on cell biology, with particular emphasis on regenerative processes. The main research direction includes the analysis of stem cell properties and the mechanisms regulating their differentiation, proliferation, and capacity to support tissue reconstruction. This research is of significant importance in the context of muscle diseases, including muscular dystrophies, injuries, and age-related degenerative processes, as well as cancer. The Department of Cytology also carries out projects involving the use of advanced biomaterials, including functionalized hydrogels, which may potentially support tissue repair processes.
